History of Bodhimalkada Purana Maha Viharaya
Bodhimalkada Purana Maha Viharaya was founded in 1990 and conceived as a place of worship and spiritual education for the local community. Though younger than many historic sites in Kandy, the temple has a profound story rooted in the revival of Buddhist practices and the safeguarding of local traditions amidst a rapidly modernizing society. Its establishment was spearheaded by venerable monks of the region, who envisioned a new haven for the preservation of Buddhist teachings and practices.
